Install IPTV on an Android Phone or Tablet
Android phones and tablets are the quickest way to try your subscription: install a player from Google Play, enter your details once, and your channels follow you everywhere.
Getting started
- An Android device running a reasonably recent version of Android with Google Play access.
- A stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or a generous mobile data plan).
- Your subscription details: server URL, username and password, or an M3U playlist link.
How it works
Install a player app
Open Google Play and install a reputable IPTV player. Well-known options include IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate; the general-purpose VLC player can also open playlist links. If your provider recommends a specific app, start with that one.
Choose your login method
Launch the player. On first run it asks how to sign in: pick the Xtream Codes API style login if you received a server URL with a username and password, or the playlist (M3U URL) option if you received a single link.
Enter your subscription details
Type the details exactly as your provider sent them. They are case-sensitive, and a stray space added by keyboard autocomplete is the most common cause of a failed login, so double-check before confirming.
Let channels and the guide load
The player downloads your channel list first, then the programme guide (EPG). The guide file is larger and can take a minute or two on first run — keep the app open until both finish.
Organise your channels
Mark the channels you watch most as favourites and hide the groups you never open. A shorter list is faster to load and far more pleasant to browse on a phone screen.
Tune playback if needed
If a stream stutters or the audio drifts, open the player's playback settings and switch between hardware and software decoding, or increase the buffer size slightly.
Frequently asked questions
Login rejected: re-enter the details slowly, watching for extra spaces and letter case, and confirm your subscription is active.
Channels list but will not play: try another channel first; if none play, test your connection in another app, then try switching the decoder in playback settings.
Empty programme guide: open the player's EPG settings and trigger a manual refresh; if you use an M3U playlist, make sure the separate EPG URL from your provider is entered too.
Watching on mobile data: streams consume data quickly, so prefer Wi-Fi for long sessions.
