Install IPTV on Android TV / Google TV
Android TV and Google TV devices have the Play Store built in, so setup is a straight path: install a TV-friendly player, sign in once, and watch with the remote.
Getting started
- A TV or box running Android TV or Google TV, signed in to a Google account.
- A working internet connection — wired Ethernet if available, otherwise Wi-Fi (prefer the 5 GHz band).
- Your subscription details: server URL, username and password, or an M3U playlist link.
How it works
Install a TV-friendly player
Open the Play Store on the TV and search for an IPTV player. IPTV Smarters Pro and TiviMate are well-known options designed for remote-control navigation. Install one and wait for it to appear in your apps row.
Open the player and pick a login method
On first run the player asks how to sign in. Choose the Xtream Codes API style login for server credentials, or the playlist option for an M3U link.
Enter your details with the on-screen keyboard
Type the server URL, username and password exactly as provided. The TV keyboard makes stray spaces easy to add, so review each field before moving on. Some players also show a QR code so you can type the details on your phone instead.
Let the channel list and EPG load
The channel list appears within seconds; the programme guide is larger and can take a minute or two on first run. Leave the app open until programme names appear next to channels.
Build your favourites
Long-press a channel (or open its context menu) to add it to favourites, and hide the channel groups you never watch. This is the single biggest daily-use improvement.
Set automatic guide refresh
In the player's EPG settings, enable a daily automatic update so the guide stays current without manual work.
Frequently asked questions
Login fails: re-enter the credentials carefully — spaces and capitalisation are the usual culprits.
Streams stutter: test another streaming app; if it also struggles the network is at fault. Prefer Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and try a larger buffer in the player settings.
A specific channel will not play while others work: report that channel to your provider — it is a stream issue, not a setup issue.
App misbehaves after an update: fully close and reopen it, or restart the device; first-run glitches often clear after a reboot.
