Install IPTV on Amazon Fire TV
Fire TV runs Android under the hood, but some players are not in the Amazon Appstore, so setup may involve sideloading with the Downloader app. Fire TV supports this openly and the whole process takes about fifteen minutes.
Getting started
- A Fire TV Stick or Fire TV device connected to the internet and signed in to an Amazon account.
- Your subscription details: server URL, username and password, or an M3U playlist link.
- If sideloading: the download URL of your player's Android installer (APK), provided by your service.
How it works
Check the Amazon Appstore first
Search the Appstore for your player by name. If it is listed, install it there and jump straight to the sign-in step — no sideloading needed.
Allow apps from unknown sources
Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options, and enable installing unknown apps. If Developer Options is hidden, go to Settings, My Fire TV, About, highlight the device name and press select on it seven times to reveal the menu.
Install the Downloader app
Search the Appstore for Downloader (the widely used orange-icon utility) and install it. On newer Fire OS versions, grant the unknown-apps permission to Downloader specifically.
Fetch and install your player
Open Downloader, enter the installer URL from your provider exactly as written, and confirm the installation when prompted.
Delete the installer file
When Downloader offers to delete the APK after installation, accept — the file is no longer needed and storage on a Stick is limited.
Sign in to your service
Open the player from your apps list and enter your server credentials or paste your M3U link. Type slowly; the on-screen keyboard invites stray spaces.
Let channels and the guide load
The channel list arrives in seconds; the first programme-guide download can take a minute or two. Keep the app open until both complete, then set up favourites.
Frequently asked questions
Downloader cannot fetch the file: check the URL character by character and confirm the device is online.
Installation blocked: revisit the unknown-apps permission and make sure it is granted to Downloader specifically.
Player runs slowly over time: restart the Stick (Settings, My Fire TV, Restart) and clear the player's cache from Manage Installed Applications.
Sideloaded apps do not auto-update: when your provider announces a new version, repeat the Downloader steps with the new URL.
